Here you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions. If you don't find an answer to your question, you can also ask us by e:mail.
How can I visit the Consulate?
- For all the questions you need to make an appointment through the RusTurn system (or the call center, where exists).
- You will be advised only on the questions you have indicated in your appointment application.
- Please come to the Consulate 10-15 minutes before your appointment time. There is no need to come earlier than that. The actual attendance time depends on how well the visitors before you have prepared for their appointment.
- Please do not bring to the Consulate your relatives or other people if their presence is not absolutely necessary for your issue. They might not be allowed into the Consulate.
- Please do not bring suitcases, big bulky bags, backpacks, electirc and electronic devices – you will not be admitted into the Consulate with them.
- We guarantee that all visitors will be attended on the day of their appointment.
- If a visitor has no appointment, he/she will not be attended regardless of how long a trip he/she has made to come to the Consulate.
ATTENTION: not knowing these rules does not relieve you from complying to them!
In what cases the visitor can be attendent without an appointment?
- For all the questions you need to make an appointment through the RusTurn system (or the call center, where exists).
How do I set up appointments in different departments but for the same date?
- on page « Step 4. Choose your question » press Ctrl+N to open a second window with this page. Choose the purpose of your visit in the two departments accordingly:
- in each of the windows go to « Step 5. Choose the time and date ». The program will offer you a free time and date for each of the questions. If you want to deal with both questions the same day you should choose the date that offers free time-slots in both departments;
- after choosing the date and time proceed to Step 6 in both windows.
Why do I have to pay to make an appointment?
There are several reasons for that:
- neither the Russian consular services nor those of other countries have such a unique system. It is created by our partners and is not funded by the state. In order to further improve the system it must be cost effective;
- the system needs to be administered which leads to current costs;
- at the same time this helps prevent sabotage and abuse of the system;
- such a paid appointment registration is a widely spread practice in consular offices around the world. For example, the Consulate General of Germany in Saint Petersburg charges 10,7 Euros, the US Consulate in Madrid charges up to 10 Euros (see here), in other countries – $10 (like the US Consulate in Mexico) and so on.
- finally, in our case the cost is not that high and can be compared to a bus fare from the nearest subway station to the Consulate and back.
In other words, paying the fee you guarantee the further existence of the system and this service.
Is there any other way I can make an appointment (not through the Internet)?
You can also make an appointment via the independent call-center by calling 895 898 95 61 (ONLY IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE) Monday through Friday from 09:00 a.m. to 19:00. You will be charged 0,36€/est.+ 1.80€/min fisso // 0,1€/est.+2,40€/min di TIM // 0,155€/est.+2.16 €/min di Vodafone // 0,15€/est.+1,86€/min di Wind.
The call-center operators are not employees of the Consulate. They just register appointments and are not authorized to answer questions on consular procedures. No claims regarding this issue will be considered.
Nevertheless we recommend making your appointments through RusTurn. This is easier, faster and less expensive.
What is the best way to make an appointment for Russian (and Belorussian) citizens?
We insist that citizens of Russia and Belorussia should make their appointments through the Russian section of the RusTurn site and do it personally. In order to avoid misunderstandings do not delegate it to people who do not speak Russian.
I cannot come at the appointed time. What shall I do?
It is important for the efficiency of the Consulate not to waste time on no-show appointments. If you cannot arrive for the appointed time, you are requested to cancel your appointment or postpone it for another date. You can do it through the « Change date and time » and « Cancel » options on this site. Please do it before your actual appointment date comes. In this case other people will be able to use this time slot thus avoiding artificial queue growth.
